Janet Genatt Receives 2012
"Kiwanian of The Year" Award

The Kiwanian of the Year award is presented to a member of our club who distinguishes themselves by exceptionally commendable participation in our club activities throughout the past year. Although our club is build on participation by all our members, some members stand above the crowd as a result of their exceptional contributions to our club.

Janet Genatt has certainly exemplified what it means to be an active member in virtually every aspect of our club.

She volunteered to be our co-Treasurer when it was difficult to get someone to fill Reed’s shoes. She attends virtually every club meeting, takes our money, coordinates with the Pub, pays our bills, makes deposits and dispenses cheer to everyone who enters our meetings.

She co-chairs the Service Leadership Committee and serves as our advisor to the Keene High School Key Club. She is re-energizing that club and providing
them the utmost support as evidenced by her weekly efforts to promote the Senior Prom and to arrange a wonderful array of food for that event. She has helped lead the planning for our annual Spring Kiwanis Family of Clubs picnic and even cooked the meal there last year. She is currently working on a Kiwanis Family of Clubs group work effort for our Kiwanis One Day project.

She is a most active member of the Membership Committee and always has positive input at meetings. She helped draft the committee’s position on the definition of what it means to be an active member and has acted as chair or recorder for the committee and submitted meeting reports to the Board. She often drives members who cannot drive or don’t like to drive to our evening meetings.

She has been a tremendous asset to the Fund Raising Committee even though she is not officially a member. Her highly successful D’Angelos fund raiser was a great success and required virtually no club effort other than her own. She has established additional fund raising efforts at Cass’s Closet and Penelope’s to enhance our Administrative Fund.

She stepped forward to fill a vacancy in our Board of Directors and has agreed to serve another two-year term beginning this October when her current partial term is completed.

Janet also volunteers at virtually every community service or fund raising effort of our club. She does not just volunteer, she volunteers with enthusiasm! Whether it is dressing up as an elf at our Christmas caroling stroll, helping wrap our Christmas gift donations for needy families, volunteering the entire day at Pumpkin Fest shopping and restocking our pantry, or calling local radio stations to tout our Antique Dealers show, you know Janet will be there and quietly setting the standard for excellence as a club member.

It is with extreme pride and gratitude that we recognize Janet for this award. Thank you for all she does for us and for our community.

She is indeed the Outstanding Kiwanian of 2012!
